The 2017 gill net survey numbers are in and they are way above what we had last year for Striper and the Sandbass numbers are record breaking along with larger than average size for those little fighters!\
I’ve been catching fish shallow on swimbaits, and deeper on slab spoons, and occasionally on A-rigs as well! I do not troll nor do I use live bait...we fish! This Spring and Summer are looking to be the best we have had the last couple of years.
I know it’s hard for everyone to get out on Texoma during the week, and I know weekends are full of family activities as well, but think about this… early into work, cut out at lunch, grab a burger on the way, and head to Lake Texoma for a 2:30 pm trip that will last until sunset. I think afternoon trips during the week in April and May are some of the best of the year. The water warms throughout the day and really gets those cold winter fish moving! Plus, there are virtually no other boats on the lake!!! We’d have them all to ourselves…. Just a few evenings ago, I had a small patch of good Striper came up on topwater busting the surface chasing shad out of the water…I got goosebumps when I saw that for the first time in a long time!!!....we got ‘em good that evening!!
The next cool thing that is right around the corner is TOPWATER season!! Early morning Topwater on shallow points and ledges should be better than it has been in years past! Call now to book your Topwater trip and get ready to see those fish busting the surface chasing your Pencil Popper out of the water! See the strike, set the hook, and fight ‘em hard!
Summer is on the way and Lake Texoma is in great shape. Get out and enjoy our wonderful resource that we have in Lake Texoma. There are numerous places to camp, fish, rent cabins, rent boats, and eat on the lake. Some of my guests will come and rent a cabin in the marina that I fish out of, Mill Creek Resort and Marina. Great place to stay at a cabin on the lake with grills and firepits to enjoy the evenings. And as always, you all can fish off of my dock for a variety of species.
Get those kids out of the house and up to lake to experience fishing at its finest at the Striper Fishing Capital of the world… BEAUTIFUL LAKE TEXOMA
BEAUTIFUL LAKE TEXOMA !!!
